Liverpool International Theatre Festival

Liverpool, NS, is one of those little towns with surprisingly large cultural events and attractions. There is an historical festival based on the Privateering history of the town which has become known for its re-enactments and for the amazing collection of wildly talented, world class bands who play from noon to 2 am all weekend.
There is an International Ukulele Ceilidh every second year that unites Uke enthusiasts and musicians from around the globe, and there is the International Theatre Festival.
Ages ago I entered the running for awards for this festival and won, creating ten or twelve woodspirits bearing the category on each.
Now, nearly a decade later, I have the contract again to make ten awards for the various categories.
The Liverpool entry this year is a home grown project, written by local artist and author Libby Broadbent, and featuring amazing body-puppets (worn by the actors) she created with her paper mache expertise.
To honour the colour and creativity ( and with a nod to puppeteering) I created a nautical themed statuette of a fisherman in his slicks and holding the festival mascot jester fish on a puppet controller.
The awards are all but done, the case to house them polished and clean, and the plates naming each award on order.
The fellas will only be together for a couple weeks before flying off around the world so I am enjoying their colourful presence.
